The plan is: there is no plan.
I have been feeling compelled to blog/journal some of my reflections on Advent this season, so I have taken over my own blog to write out those thoughts. I really want to do this, and so not having to add photos to the post will help make this happen. Sometimes, just to be nice, I’ll include an iphone picture taken and edited on my phone that has nothing to do with the post, and probably one that wouldn’t win any awards either. This isn’t laziness; it’s intentional… I’m setting myself up for success.
The way morning light filters through these rose bush leaves? It’s exceptional.
Advent: to come
Any first year Latin student can tell you that Advent means “to come.” I was a first year Latin student four years in a row, and this might be the only Latin I remember, but it has stuck with me. To come. The expectation that something is coming. While this season we celebrate that long-expected event of Christ’s coming. Remember, too, that we are waiting for him to come again. For me, advent is less about the past, but a reminder of what is yet to come. To be watching and waiting, in expectation.
